Feeding the Hungry

At St. Peter’s, we believe that our faith calls us to serve those in need. One way we do this is through our work with two local organizations: Homeless Solutions and Nourish.NJ. We are proud to say that both of these organizations had their beginnings at St. Peter’s.

Led by parishioner Anne Siotka, we provide meals for approximately 65 residents of Homeless Solutions. Our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to plan, shop and cook the meals with support from FiA funding. To learn more about Homeless Solutions, Inc. and the important work they do, visit their website (click for Homeless Solutions).

In addition to our work with Homeless Solutions, we volunteer, assemble and deliver approximately 50 Breakfast Bags every 1st and 2nd Saturday of each month. These bags are distributed to families in need by Nourish.NJ. To find out more about this important organization, visit their website (click for Nourish.NJ).

If you feel called to help with these ministries, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Anne Siotka at asiotka@gmail.com or call Kathleen Carozza at 973-452-2094 to find out how you can get involved. Thank you for your willingness to serve our community.

Serving Others

We believe that serving others is an important part of our mission. Faith in Action partners with other Christian congregations to collect supplies for prisoners in need during the Christmas season. Each year, we are assigned a basic need item and asked to collect 400 of them for distribution to prisoners.

We also work with a local residential facility to support teens. Our initiative provides each young resident with a birthday gift, as well as Christmas gifts. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring a little joy to these teens.

Hope for Veterans, a program based at the VA in Lyons, provides veterans with housing for about 6 to 9 months as well as other needed support. We support a variety of activities recognizing the service of the Veterans, such as thank you cards, handmade gifts from our families, and participation in parish activities, such as attending the Somerset Patriots game.

North Porch

is an outreach of the Newark Diocese to support families. On months that contain a 5th Sunday, we organize special collections at our church, gathering essential items such as diapers, wipes, infant food, and formula. These donations provide vital support to families in need.

To make contributing even more convenient, we have created an Amazon Wish List (find it here), allowing those to participate in our outreach efforts with a simple click. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing hardships.

Faith in Action also supports or funds efforts such as:
