Join us on the Great Lawn this Sunday afternoon at 5 pm for the first of this year's two concerts on our renowned carillon. Please bring something on which to sit, and feel free to bring food and drink to enjoy during the performance.
This week we welcome our guest performer Lynnli Wang from Riverside Church in New York City. Lynnli is a renowned performer, teacher, and arts advocate, formerly the University Carillonist at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. In addition to recital and teaching work, she has collaborated with student composers, commissioned new works, and authored two children's books on carillons. In recognition of her dedication to making carillon accessible and exciting to performers, listeners, and composers alike, Lynnli was awarded the IU New Music Performance Award, the IU Lieber Memorial Teaching Award, the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Teaching Award, and one of The Diapason's 20 Under 30 awards.
A Yale graduate in literature, Lynnli serves on the board of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America and various committees funding education, research, and performance opportunities for new carillonists. Her program for us will be a delightful mix of original music and arrangements of popular songs, including works by Joey Brink, Alice Gomez, Ellen Dickinson, and Alan Menken.
