Photography and Videography for Weddings

Wedding at St. Peter'sA marriage ceremony is first and foremost an act of divine worship in which the focus of the service is on the bride and groom. The guidelines below are designed to prevent any distractions or intrusions that would disrupt the service. These are pastoral guidelines for the benefit of the bride and groom in having a memorable and satisfying wedding experience. We ask that these guidelines be followed by both photographers and videographers.

  1. The professional photographer should discuss with the presiding clergy the appropriate conduct during the marriage service, and then be as discreet as possible in where and when to take pictures. Photography may be taken throughout the entire service so long as the photographer is not intrusive or disrupts the ceremony in any way. Photographs after the ceremony may be taken but we ask that the process take no more than 30 minutes.
  2. The videographer may place the video camera on a tripod in the gallery (the balcony above the entry way) or in some other discreet place as approved by the presiding clergy. The video camera and the videographer should remain stationary so as not to distract from the ceremony. Mobile videography is conditionally permitted if approved by the presiding clergy.
  3. In all matters, the presiding clergy shall have final authority over all matters concerning photography and videography during the marriage ceremony. Moreover, both the photographer and videographer are responsible to the Verger, Mr. Trevor Wallace, and accept his direction.
  4. Both the photographer and videographer shall sign a statement agreeing to honor these guidelines, and return a copy to the church office by Monday preceding the ceremony.
