The Diocese of Newark
The Diocese of Newark encompasses 112 parishes and missions representing great geographic diversity, located in populous cities, suburbia and rural towns. Diocesan Bishop Mark Beckwith - one of three current Episcopal bishops who formerly served as priest associates at St. Peter's - has defined the diocese's vision as "Standing with the Living Christ at the Gates of Hope" and identified four core values: worship, spiritual formation, justice/nonviolence and radical hospitality.
The diocese's congregations are organized into 10 districts, which can provide a place for clergy to share a network of support and ministry. St. Peter's is part of District 3, which includes nearby parishes such as Redeemer (also in Morristown) and more distant ones, such as the urban parishes of Holy Innocents and Holy Trinity, both in West Orange. Other congregations within the district are St. John's, Dover; St. Peter's, Livingston; All Saints', Millington; St. Paul's, Morris Plains; and St. Gregory's, Parsippany.
