Religion, Politics & Sex: Tudor Origins of the Episcopal Church

Could Henry VIII have obtained a divorce without separating the Church of England from Rome? Did he think of himself as a Protestant reformer like Martin Luther? Did he look anything like the actor who played him on “The Tudors?” (Hint: He looked more like the actor who played him on “Wolf Hall.”) For answers to these and other questions concerning the Episcopal Church’s connection to England’s most telegenic ruling family, join us at 9 a.m. in the Guild Room on November 10th, 17th, and 24th. As he leads this adult Christian formation series, the Rev. Dan Gross will dispel myths, quash rumors, and attempt to satisfy your curiosity surrounding the monarchs whose actions and personalities so powerfully influenced the Christianity we call “Anglicanism” today. These sessions will last approximately 35 minutes. Questions? Contact Dan at dgross@stpetersmorristown.org or 973-538-0555, ext. 113.
