The St. Peter's Church Library
Background
The Library is located on the the second floor of the Church Parish House and is open for use on Sunday mornings and during the week as announced. There are currently over 1500 titles available for circulation by members of the congregation and new titles are added as appropriate. The collection includes non-fiction books as well as a few biographies, a small number of fiction titles, and several shelves of reference books that do not circulate. There is also a selection of books authored by Bishop Spong. The Library is an evolving collection and it is expected there will be media materials available in the near future.
Access
The Library Collection is arranged in Dewey Decimal order. There will, however, be a printed list of titles and a list of authors available for perusing in the Library as well. More importantly, the collection will also be available for searching on the St. Peter's web site starting in the Fall of 2011.
Circulation
Books may be checked out for four weeks by leaving signed circulation cards in the box provided in the Library It is requested that readers return them to the Library or the receptionist's desk when finished. Note: It is important to return titles as quickly as possible so that other parishioners may enjoy them.
New Titles
New acquisitions will be added slowly and will have to meet the criteria developed by the Library Committee. A list of desired titles is being developed to fill gaps in the collection as well as to replace those that are in poor condition or are dated. The most recent (Summer 2011) acquisitions are a number of books authored by Karen Armstrong.
